I personally love WordPress but there is one thing I can’t stand about it. I was trying to create a blog in order to get more referrals to a site I had recently joined. Only problem was, referral links aren’t allowed apparently and my blog was useless. Blogger is by far the best which explains why it’s ranked number one here.
I think WordPress only allows referral links if you are using a paid account, correct me if I’m wrong. Personally, WordPress works for me. It’s easier to navigate and more utilitarian. All the others in the list though are very new to me. I would be trying one or two from this list just to try things out, who knows, I might just find my right fit.
I’ve used Blogger and WordPress and I’ve dabbled with Drupal, but the rest of the list are new to me. I will look into them and try and find the perfect fit for me. Not everyone loves Blogger or WordPress and I just don’t have the patience for Drupal. Great list!
Although LiveJournal is a good blogging platform, I think it does not do well with hardcore blogging. I myself have been using LiveJournal but most of the blogs that you see there are either fandoms or personal blogs which are locked. This goes the same with DreamWidth which operates with the same premise as LiveJournal. Meanwhile, Tumblr does show some potential but then again, it have, more often than not, server problem.
Personally, I’m using WordPress and LiveJournal. I use WordPress for my professional blog whilst I use LiveJournal for my personal one. It’s all a matter of taste really. Though, I find your list fascinating. I might just try them and see if they can measure up. Thanks!
I am just familiar with WordPress and Blogger. Your post is very informative. By the way, are they all for free? Which one would you really recommend to use for a beginner like me?
I am using Blogger and I am no doubt comfortable with it. Thanks for this list. I didn’t know there were a few good ones too. I will share this with my friend who wants to build his own blog. I am sure he will enjoy this site.
Haven’t heard with the rest but surely Blogger is top 1. They are really great for those who are really into SEO. I’ll probably explore the rest. Also, I like posterous. It’s one of my favorites.
Blogger is really the best. Top of everything, I should say. I’m familiar with the rest – WordPress, TypePad, and Drupal. But the others? Not a hint of familiarity.
I love using WordPress (no bias there). Although I am limited to customizing my blog but I don’t mind. I also love how it is so corporate-looking. I never had a hard time using WordPress. Blogger is ok too.
