Settings for the Fastest Web Browser Speeds — You Too Can Have a Super Fast Web Browser

browser speedSpeeding up your web browser is something that internet surfers often struggle with. A slow browser can make checking your email, talking to friends or even playing online games a difficult and stressful event. There are many ways you can go about speeding up your browser and often times it’s a very easy to do.

First Thing, Prevention

The first thing that you can do is to make sure that you prevent a slow browsing experience. This comes in several steps that are actually very easy.

  • Quit Watching Porn and Download Things Illegally — Yes you may not be illegally downloading things or watching porn but going to the risky and illegal websites is actually risky business when it comes to keeping your browser safe. These websites often contain malware and viruses that are installed upon viewing web pages.
  • Don’t Install Tool bars — Those Yahoo, Ask, Skype and every other toolbar slow down your browsing experience. They require your web browser to perform extra tasks before rendering a web page.
  • Use Chrome If Possible – Chrome is the fastest web browser out there. Experts as well as benchmark tests have proven this over and over since the launch of Google’s Chrome browser. The second best browser on the internet in my opinion is Mozilla’s Firefox. The last is the reason they call Internet Explorer Internet Exploder — not only does it do a slow job rendering web pages, it often does not do it correctly either. I don’t really look at Opera as it’s a non contender.

Second Comes Maintenance

The second way you go about making sure your browser is at optimum browsing speed is to do routine maintenance on your web browser. This for some new people at browsing the internet can be daunting, but you need to treat your computer to its weekly check-ups to keep it healthy. This can often stop a problem before it becomes too big of a problem. The following are regular steps you should perform when it comes to computers that you use to browse the internet.

  • Anti Virus — Run an anti virus suite, and just don’t run it — do the weekly scan as your software recommends. It’s very important as this weekly scan can detect a virus before the virus becomes a problem for your browsing experience. AVG has a great free anti-virus program that is highly recommended by many experts.
  • Spyware Detection — You should also run some form of competent spyware detection as well. While spyware is a form of a virus, anti virus software does not often detect spyware nor is it equipped to get rid of it. I really recommend Spybot Search and Destroy for daily use.
  • Disk Defragmentation — You should go into your system tools on your computer and defragment your computer on a weekly basis. This will help it run much faster, and keep your browsing experience up to the speed it should be at.

Getting More Advanced

There are also more advanced things that you can do to speed up your browsing experience as well. These include the following things:

  • Using A Faster DNS Server — Often times DNS Servers run by internet service providers are overworked and under powered. Using your own or a commercial DNS Server may speed up your browsing experience.
  • Check Your Caching Settings — Make sure that you are caching your web pages properly and make sure that old cache data is cleaned out of your computer on a regular basis.

Of course one of the bigger things that affect your browsing experience is out of your control — your internet service provider. When choosing a location to live you should look at what internet is available as well.
