Review: Nokia 5130 Xpressmusic from Tech Digit

What comes to your mind when you think about the candy bar shaped Nokia 5130 Xpressmusic phone? Is it Stereo sound or Cool resolution? Is it enough? You forgot about the price tag. For just 6000 INR or $121, you get a fully loaded multimedia phone. Yes! It has all the basic features you will always want and it doesn’t even cost a fortune.

Nokia 5130 Xpressmusic

This new Nokia targets the budget conscious segment of the market with an attractive price tag. The phone has all the features that are expected of a music player/phone, and hence it is quite the buy.

The ugliest thing about this cell phone is its look. The speakers are placed in such a way that they are blocked by the hand whenever one holds it. It has rounded edges and a dotted pattern on the back. The one cool thing about the phone is that there are indicators that light up when music is played. It is a very lightweight phone, however, and has a decent keypad.

It has dedicated music keys at the sides of the phone, which are large ones but one cannot make out their functions by just moving his fingers on them, but they let the user shuffle through individual tracks and there are even the volume keys at the other side of the phone.

Even though it is a music phone and comes with a 3.55 mm audio jack where you can plug your headphones to receive and make calls and also to listen to tracks, the main problem with the phone is that whenever the user tries to listen to tracks via the earphones, the phone restarts after a few tracks.

The phone has a 2 inch display and a 320×240 screen resolution (QVGA), but there are no brightness adjustment features in the phone. The font used in the phone is a very neat one and the icons are also cool. There are many themes available for free download and installation in the phone making it a customizable phone.

The phone comes with a 2 Megapixel Camera to take some decent photographs. The phone has MicroSD card slot which can according to user experience, hold up to a 32 GB card in it. But Tech Digit’s advice is to not fancy with it and only plug a card up to 4 GB.
