JavaScript updated in Firefox 3.5

Jul 18, 2009 by

Mozilla Firefox since its arrival has been one of the pioneering internet browsers today in the computing world. They have once again taken a step towards impressing their customers by implementing a key security patch. Ever since Mozilla 3.5 got unveiled, it has had a rocky going and many users had complaints of some drive-by attacks. Now this attractive browser software has introduced a key JavaScript update. This update is now compliant with the Mozilla Firefox version 3.5 which has got released just two weeks back.

When we take a look on what browser manufacturers strive for to meet the needs of the users, we infer that speed is the most sought after quality that people look forward to and in this process of going for it, the browser manufactures end up concentrating less on security and privacy issues. Also attackers nowadays love a faster JavaScript to carry out their attacks on browsers so it ends up playing into their hands.

But the question of utmost security still remains in the minds of the users. The SSL sites now take a lot of problems in loading all the images and sites unless the users go for the “Reload” option in Mozilla. Also some antivirus software like AVG will now cause further problems for the users because the “Enter” option in Firefox will not work with this antivirus software. Also there are now many reasons why Mozilla may crash and cause more headaches to the users. The problems for the moment remains and Mozilla have promised to act quickly on all these issues.

But the big question among all users is that is this going to change the Mozilla entirely?? The answer for now seems promising but the hard-line is that it may in turn affect the speed of the browser and develops more flaws in future as well. The software developer has now made this updated Firefox software also ready for download and for those using Firefox 3.5, an automated update message is now available with a simple click on the option of “Check for updates” in their browser toolbar as seen in most of the browsers today.

When the software got released on June 30, it was expected as one of the most improved versions of Firefox but a hacking group exposed this vulnerability and in this vulnerability, if the user visits a tainted page, this malicious code is executed and the user becomes ready for drive-by attacks. With the Internet Security Services Company “Secunia” rating the vulnerability as “highly critical”, pressure was on Mozilla to act quickly and they have done now. Mozilla has also admitted that this update will indeed slow down the browser. The Sans Institute has also warned not to risk their privacy by disabling this key update. Mozilla strangely have remained mum regarding this issue.

Well that’s big issue with Mozilla Firefox and many people are saying same thing. That’s why I prefer to use Opera 10 Beta 2 which is most stable version for me and I haven’t found any bugs yet in my few days use and also working prefect, Opera made many changes and you can read it on blog!

Well they are working hard to bring stable FireFox version and I read few blogs and forums where people still finding bugs. I am happy with old version which was faster one compare to this. Although I use Opera most of time but I like FireFox one single reason of SEO Add-On.
