As we all know Facebook is leading social network that gains more users with each passing day. Therefore, with a great number of users there are certain threats available especially when it comes to minors.

In order to protect teenagers on Facebook there will be panic button added for all underage users from United Kingdom. Every teenage user will see add on its Facebook home page that will invite him to add this application. This application is optional but it should help protect minors on Facebook. Through this application minor can report offenders right to the government agency, Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) and to the Facebook itself. In addition, there’s a official Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre page on Facebook that has polls, news alerts and updates about online safety.

Like mentioned before, due to the great number of Facebook users there are many threats especially to the minors and CEOP urges that parents ensure that their children are using this application. So far, there have been several incidents with sex offenders via Facebook therefore CEOP has developed this application last year but Facebook didn’t accept it because security team thought that safety measures are adequate.

After the discussion with Facebook, Facebook staff has decided to accept the ClickCEOP button in order to protect its users, but so far this application will be only available in UK. According to the recent survey, Facebook has currently more than 400 million active therefore privacy and safety of its users is top priority.

Even though this isn’t actual panic button it will still provide some safety to the minors. So far, this panic button isn’t connected with local police and it is only available to the UK users. Let’s just hope that ClickCEOP button will make Facebook safer than before.
