I took a look into Thesis 1.8 which is available for developer license owners of Thesis wordpress theme.I am trying it out and also figuring it out the new features which are in Thesis 1.8 and comparing them with Thesis 1.7, there are few minor and major changes in this release.

Here are the features which are new in Thesis 1.8

Home Page SEO is placed on Thesis Site Options page, and there is a new feature called Publisher Tools, which allows you to enable support for Windows Live Writer.

Navigation Menu feature is fixed so from now with Thesis 1.8 one can switch between both navigation systems WordPress navigation and Thesis navigation.

Another new feature is the Custom Stylesheet Options which seems to give the blog more load speed if you are not using custom stylesheet.

Thesis Header Image

This feature is added as it is the most requested feature for Thesis wordpress theme and each and every thesis users needs to change the header image which gives a new look and feel to the theme.

Thesis 1.8 have new feature header image using which one can upload header image straight from thesis options page but the worst part is that it has optimal width of 730 pixels it means that one can not use header image wider than that so this feature is not much more useful if some one is willing to design wider header then this is not for them and if you upload wider header image then it crops it and makes it width to 730 pixel.

This feature should not be like that it should be something like one can upload header image of any size which fits according to the custom design so this feature is not for that much of use so most of the thesis users will setup the header manually.

Thesis Page Options Removed

Now its good to see that thesis page options is removed in Thesis 1.8 as it was very bulky for those having lots of categories and tags so now thesis options are more light weight.

The only thing which is left from Thesis page options is Home Page SEO which is now moved to Thesis Site Options page.

Thesis Options Manager

Thesis Options Manager has got some minor changes and not much its only the order of options which now more handy and easy to use and prevents from mistakes which may be caused in Thesis 1.7.Here is how it looks in Thesis 1.7
