Webdesign today:
Webdesign has gone through many stages of evolution. Fortunately, the process has been made easier and easier as time went by. Popular Web applications and blogs such as WordPress are one of the many well known platforms that turned web content and publishing mainstream.

Getting started:
With WordPress, all it takes is a simple registration for a blog to go live. Free WordPress hosting can be offered as a subdomain if a domain registration is out of question. Upon registering, a graphical user interface such as a sidebar will grant the ability to customize everything from text size, background color, and much more. Some clicks and keystrokes can turn a bland looking wordpress page to a rich and dynamic web page.

Programming knowledge:
Knowledge of PHP can be very useful, WordPress can be dissected and customized from the ground up with some PHP. A graphical user interface can give you control over your site, but to really dive into it, PHP is essential. Plugins are nifty add on’s to websites that can host a range of many features. An example of a plugin would be the integration of Facebook’s like button offering visitors the ability to like a page or piece of content. Another example of a plugin would be for Seach Engine Optimization or SEO. SEO plugins are made to optimize and configure the website to tailor to the search engine for better results. Any webmaster looking for web traffic would add on some SEO plugins for a higher page rank on search engines like Google.

Community:
Fortunately, there is a vast collection of plugins and add-on’s in the wordpress community, therefore a non programmer can use someone else’s code instead of programming. Many of the plug ins come with much documentation and support, so there is hope! Be sure to add some kind interactivity between visitors and the site, such as a comment box. The internet is full of spammers, so preventive measures such as comment approval can drastically cut down on unsolicited visitors.

Design Tips:
Users prefer a simple and organized layout, there is many websites on the web to be explored. The easier, and simpler the layout, the more likely a user will stay on the page with interest. In other words, when it comes to web design, less is more.

Conclusion:
Overall, starting a site with WordPress is relatively simple. Everyone is just a registration away from having their own personal and customizable website. Making websites is easier than ever with WordPress so anyone looking into webdesign should start to use WordPress as a stepping stone.

With the emergence of other platforms on the internet which continues to take away the notoriously short attention span of users everywhere and the seemingly ever-changing algorithms that search engines implement every now and then, some may dare to ask, “Is blogging still relevant for SEO in 2012 and onwards?”

However, it’s difficult to ignore the results. According to surveys, if you release five blogs in seven days, you are bound to get approximately seven times more traffic in the aftermath.

The truth is, consistently turning out blogs will drive traffic to your site. Moreover, if you have written useful and relevant blogs, especially if you add a little sense of humor in there, then people will flock to your site not only once but also over and over. Come to think of it, if you have this huge repository of blogs accumulated over time, the more likely it is that people will actually find something relevant or useful for them to use. Moreover, if you like your blogs, then they will likely tell their friends to try and check out your site.

So how do you create contents or blogs which people will find relevant? Here are some suggestions:

Try to create content that will generate buzz and new ideas in order to keep people talking.

When you start writing, it somehow takes a life of its own which sometimes leads to insights that you wouldn’t have arrived at if you did not bother to start blogging to begin with. People will certainly appreciate these insights and may find it either interesting or inspirational or at the very least make them feel good about life or themselves.

When you write down certain things, it sometimes helps you to focus on certain things that need to be done. For sure, you are not the only one who is having this kind of problem and people will almost always appreciate your help on this regard, just because someone articulated it for them.

For your own benefit, blogging is actually therapeutic as it releases pressure and diverts your mind from your worries during the entire duration when you are making the blog.

You must be willing to put the time into blogging. Do not just give up as soon as a new technology or other popular blogs come along. Look at your contents as investments that will bring you a handsome return in the future.

Consistency is the key. If you release one blog daily then you will have about 30 blogs per month that will accumulate to a tidy sum after one year which people can really warm up to. If one blog daily is too much for you, then try releasing one blog every other day or roughly 3 blogs in a week. At the very least, that should keep your site dynamic and constantly moving and that will still add up to a huge amount of blogs by the end of the year. That’s something which you can definitely build on.

Finally, blogging is still relevant in 2012 because it is a trusted and proven business model. Just look at all those famous bloggers who stuck to it through all these years and are now reaping the rewards of their labor.

George Peterson currently works for one of the leading Google search marketing agencies in Denmark – Outrider. He currently works as a SEO (interesting to know is that the Danish term is søgemaskineoptimering) manager.

It took me a while to realise the important fact that blogs are an essential communication tool for online businesses. I have found that with a blog I am able to enhance the way in which I interact with new and existing customers over the web. SEO copywriter services can help you to create powerful blogs that can generate traffic and sales leads for your online business website too.

The Power of Blogs
I used to think that blogs were a waste of my valuable workings time. However, I do now understand that if you want to achieve your online business goals then you should never overlook this valuable asset. A good blog can really drive up your site traffic and make sure you are visible to your target audience.

The first time I set up a blog I was a bit reluctant as I knew it would be a lot of hard work.

This is one of the main reasons other people also shy away from this valuable business tool.

It is important that you keep the blog up to date and provide useful and informative content for readers.

This can take up a lot of your time and I soon lost momentum with my blog as I ran out of new ideas.

However with SEO copywriter services you can get all the exposure you need from a blog without all the hassle.

SEO copywriter services will run your blog for you and ensure they offer a powerful addition to your online marketing strategies.

The Buyer’s Motivation
If you are running an online business then you need to understand the science behind buying and selling. A large percentage of the time people buy products not because they actually need them, but because they think the product can help them achieve the lifestyle they have always wanted. I have done this myself many times. This kind of motivation is often called ‘wish fulfilment’ purchasing.

Once you realise this fact you can target your marketing and online promotion more effectively.

You need to be able to show people not just what your product does but also how it could make their lives better.

This is the great thing about blogs. In blog posts you can elaborate on your products and services and provide examples of their benefits and uses.

For example you may sell a range of leather furniture. In your blogs you can talk about how leather furniture can offer an elegant look to home décor and how it can enhance any room.

The blog will also make reference to your products and direct people to the relevant page of your website.

With this approach your blog will tell people what you sell, how it can benefit them and also where they can go to make their purchase.

This three-pronged approach can offer a very powerful selling tool for business.

Professional Blog Support
It does take a lot of skill and experience to put together a blog that is both interesting and sales orientated. Blogs that are too focused on selling can be bland and off-putting to customers. Alternatively those that do not focus on the object of the blog (i.e. selling your products) could fail to realise their potential.

SEO services will have a pool of experience writers to choose from. This will ensure you always get fresh and interesting content for your blog.

From my experience I have found that SEO copywriter services are essential for creating blogs that communicate effectively with new and existing customers. Get the help you need to harness the power of your blog now with Apple Copywriting. With this expert support you can provide a useful service to your customers and generate positive sales leads. This article was written by a guest author.

Blogging is a vital link to being successful with online marketing. People tend to read blogs daily, so it’s important to get your blog site out there for viewers to see, and most local business owners who know this also know it’s important to keep the content of your blog fresh, new, creative, informative, and so forth. And though true, sometimes it’s hard to create this type of fresh content.

One option many don’t consider to remedy this issue is identifying other sources for content other than simply creating it from scratch. Who said blog content always has to come from the same person? If you’ve temporarily run out of ideas for your local business blog, consider using the following:

Content Curation

Employee Content and Contributions

Guest Blogger Content and Contributions

Content Curation
When out of ideas, consider the option to curate content. Find information relevant to your blog by selecting and aggregating relevant info throughout the web and funneling it into a single place. This will allow you to have more valuable information for those who visit your local business blog.

Employee Content and Contributions
Keep in mind that, when it comes to blogging, you don’t have to be the only person posting on your blog. If your local business is made up of other employees, be it one or several, then allow others who are part of your team to create blog posts for your local business. Even more, if your local business has many teams of people, you can consider having each team create a regular blog post each week. Bring people in from different departments of your local business to write a blog focused on their area of expertise, for example. It’ll throw in a different touch, some diversity, and a new sense of creativity from someone else’s standpoint. Actually, it’s smart for a local business owner to encourage every individual or department head to do so.

Guest Blogging
And don’t stop at employees writing posts for your blog! It’s wise to consider guests posting blogs on your local business blog site, as, well. With other experts’ posts and articles on your blog, it can make the information you need to come up with for your local business blog less tedious, not to mention, it shows you ‘hang out’ with other experts. Plus, having guest blog submissions may also allow you to, in return, post on the blogs of your guests. This will help you leverage their current audience base to potentially bring new traffic to your own blog.

If you’re still having issues with creating new ideas for your local business blog, try creating some new ideas with the following:

Ask customer’s what they’d like to read or know more about.

Use professional personal experiences, but keep it relevant to your business.

Write a post as a response to viewer/reader comments.

The trends and what everyone else is talking about within the industry.

Coming up with new content for your local business blog is essential if you want people to keep coming back for more. Use these suggestions, and try coming up with your own creative ideas for content, as well.

Most businesses, especially small businesses, don’t take full advantage of social media. Even those businesses that do set up blogs often fail to maximize the potential.

But there are ways you can improve your business’s blog so it becomes an important marketing asset, attracting customers, enhancing your company’s image, and increasing sales and profits.

The Right Keywords, The Right Amount
The keywords you use in your blog are important tools in attracting visitors who are searching for information. The keywords are analyzed by search engines and ranked in terms of overall popularity.

Make sure the keywords in your blog are relevant to your business. The most popular search terms will attract the most visitors to the blog. For example, if you run a pest control business, but “rat control” is a more popular search term, you might lose potential visitors if you use “pest control” but not “rat control” as keywords in your blog.

Also, use the right amount of keywords. The copy should read naturally. Avoid over-stuffing your posts with keywords in attempt to attract search engine crawlers. Not only will it turn your readers off, but your blog could also be penalized by the search engines. An ideal keyword density is between 2 and 4%.

Cater to the People
Social media shouldn’t be a hard sell. It should create a relationship with your most important visitors: those most likely to convert.

While it’s a good place to post your sales and reduced-price promotions, the focus should be more about providing your key audience with useful and interesting content. Figure out what would be most interesting and useful to your target audience and then write about it. Breaking industry news and how-to’s are popular choices.

For example, a pest control company might offer handy tips on how to make homes less vulnerable to pests. Posts like these keep visitors coming back on a regular basis. When you put content on your blog that is actually helpful, it’s more likely your posts will be passed around, gaining readership and popularity as a result. It’s this social media buzz that you should strive to reach.

Fresher is Better
Fresher content is better than outdated posts. Not only does this encourage more frequent visits to the blog (people will be curious to see what’s new), it also garners the much-needed attention of the search engine crawlers who will subsequently rank your blog higher in search results.

Open the Dialogue, Create a Relationship
Successful blogs encourage comments and questions. This gives readers a sense that the company behind the blog is just as concerned about their own well-being as it is about attracting them as potential customers. It also gives you a chance to speak directly with your target audience. If there is a concern, be proactive and answer it quickly. It will show you’re invested in your company and value your customers, especially potential ones.

This post brought to you by guest blogger Stephanie who enjoys blogging on just about anything that’s useful, from how to maximize your company’s online exposure to the best rat control products.

Today’s businesses, particularly those running internet based business are at constant risk of data loss via a number of methods.

The ways we can lose data include hardware failures, fires, natural disasters, computer hackers, malicious employee activity, terrorism, and many other events.

We can look at ways to protect our business by hiring a lot of expensive consultants to assess the risks of all of these things, including meteorologists, data security experts, human resource consultants, industrial relations experts and physical security experts who can all confirm that risks exist and tell you how much risk there actually is. This might be extremely useful information if you are a large business, but if you are a small or medium business, or a computer hobbyist then there is one simple message.

Back your data up.
Previously, some people may have justified poor adherence to backups because of the lack of off-site options available to them. They could say, ‘Great, I’ve got all this data backed up to my media, and I’m going to put it in this pedestal drawer, if the building burns down we’re going to lose all our data’. Some people purchased fireproof safes. This still might not help for all natural disasters.

One of the best places to save your data is on the cloud. With a number of very large companies offering competing simple storage solutions on the net, the price of off-site backup is extremely cheap. The best bit is that we can choose data centres almost anywhere in the world, so we can keep our valuable data in Singapore or the United States or many different locations in Europe. With the advent of high speed internet it is quite feasible to back up several gigabytes of data in a few hours, so this can be done reasonably often as well.

The price of cloud storage presently is around 15c a gigabyte or less, so cost is not an argument against this.

There are some concerns like data security and interception, so be sure that encrypted transfer is used if you feel the data is sensitive. A security consultant might be a worthwhile investment if you are unsure about the risks involved. Overall, cloud services are run by some very large businesses who spend a great deal of money ensuring your data is secure so this shouldn’t be a worry for most people.

Here is a list of some of the big names in cloud storage.

Amazon Web Services

Microsoft Azure (Blob)

Dropbox

SugarSync

Rackspace Cloud

Google Storage

Between these businesses, you should be able to find a service that you feel comfortable with.

A final note is that a backup is not a proper backup until you have tested it. Test your backups, always, and regularly.

With a well thought out backup strategy using cloud services, you will be able to run your business with confidence and less fear of data loss. This will save you money on worry about things that won’t hurt you that much, since you can quickly restore from your secure and tested backups.

No matter what operating system you are using or what program you are using on your computer. You can never be too old or experienced for Microsoft packages. From the Windows Operating System to the common Word program you can always use them.

There are many forms of packages which offer tutorial information for Microsoft products. The Microsoft 2010 Professional is an academic office suite which is perfect for beginners. This helps you organize information into spreadsheets, contact management and even process word processing, a brilliant package for any beginner looking to make a splash in office management and they can easily be used and understood by anyone.

Then there is the 2007 Microsoft Project Professional. This complete package includes everything one needs to learn about contact management, presentations, spreadsheets, time management and even word processing but that’s not all – this one package includes so much more for office duties.

For someone who wants to delve deeper into programming, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Workgroup is still the best complete package for maintaining a database server.

Perhaps you need help with your Windows Operating System. You can find many complete packages on various Windows Operating Systems from XP to Vista and even Windows 7. Everyone’s needs are different so the Microsoft packages vary from program to program based on need of use. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for, Microsoft even allows you design your own packages based on your needs.

However that is getting ahead of us here. This is about Microsoft Packages for beginners. The beauty of which is most Microsoft packages are made for beginners in mind. Each package has a step by step walk through tutorial that one can explore and even try out new features and learn about the functions which can make their job easier.

Let’s say for the sake of argument you have just installed Microsoft Word on your computer. The complete package includes everything from Word to PowerPoint and even Excel. First you want to learn how Word functions as a program by itself. Then you may want to move into Excel seeing as how it is a common used program from Microsoft for forms and just about any other form of office use.

In today’s ever expanding technological age you can’t be without a Microsoft package, and getting more knowledgeable on how to use them will simply make your life easier.

Over the last few years the emergence of cloud computing has graced us with new online technologies that go far beyond just replacing your USB thumb drive as a back up. More and more business are taking to the cloud in an effort to save money, become greener and improve access to their data to multiple devices.

It is becoming more and more common for people to not only access their work documents from their workstation, but out of the office as well. This combined with the rise in use of mobile devices, netbooks and tablets suits the very nature of Cloud computing; giving you easy access to all of your data, from whatever device and from wherever.

However, there is so much more potential than being just one big wireless storage facility. While services such as Dropbox are great for backing up and sharing, but as a system to be used within business it’s use doesn’t extend much further and doesn’t fulfil the promise that cloud computing can offer. To get to that point there are still obstacles to overcome before the cloud can truly be universally accepted to business.

While storage and sharing is great one of the main features, which still has a valuable use for businesses, is collaboration; being able to access, work on and edit documents on the fly with other team mates at the same time.

This is something offered through Google Docs, a browser based office suite which provides all of these services, however, due to it’s in browser and web based nature the amount of functionality within the office apps, compared to a dedicate piece of software such as Microsoft Office, is far more limited. This it mainly due to the constraints of the web, as more functionality would require more server access, more bandwidth and faster mobile data rates to support the growing smart phone market. To improve these would require major upgrades to the web’s infrastructure, which is no small task. Google would not want to roll out more comprehensive updates to their apps to make use of this update until the changes are made globally, as it wouldn’t want to alienate it’s users in areas with poor connectivity.

Saying that, as Google Doc’s stands it is a service which gives the user a taste for cloud based collaboration to come, even on mobile platform. Take a look at this post on Google Apps which you should find a handy rundown on some of Google’s most useful apps you can start using to get your business on the cloud.

Microsoft and Apple have even gotten involved. With Microsoft’s Skydrive they have a direct competitor to Google Docs, allowing you to use web versions of their Office programs to edit, store and collaborate on. Where as, Apple’s iCloud is more focus on making your files accessible to all of your devices. So with three major computing powerhouses getting behind the cloud movement it is only a matter of time before businesses operating in the cloud is standard.

The major test for business managers is to decide when to adopt these new services, as all signs point to this being the future of computing. However, the question is whether the functionality these services offer now sufficiently suits your business’s needs.

If making these difficult choices has a habit of being put off until completely necessary then why not look into Management Training? As well as Management Training, Silicon Beach Training offer a wide range of soft skills courses including Leadership Training, Assertiveness Training and Time Management Training.

With cloud computing becoming a huge part of the internet it would be a good idea to have a cloud computing security program installed on your PC to protect it from unwanted computer attacks.

Even though there are over 70 million blogs on the Internet these days, new ones are added each day. If you are one of the previous 70 million or if you are one of the brand new ones, there are tips you can use to infuse your blog with new life and get it ready for 2012.

Niche/Theme
Did you start your blog in a specific genre? Were you focused on being a mom and writing about what it like raising kids? Now your children are grown and out of the house and you turned one of the kid’s bedrooms into your own personal sewing room? Have you been posting more and more about crafts and other DIY Projects? It may be time to reevaluate your niche. Not that everyone who starts a blog needs a niche but it helps in determining what kind of blogger you want to be if you know what kind of themes you are writing on.

Not everyone who starts a blog has plans for it to become the primary breadwinner. While more and more bloggers are actually making a living off their blog, you don’t have to. It can just be a creative outlet that lets you share your projects with the world wide web.

Blog Goals
Do you want to post an entry once a week? Once a day? It is best to have a schedule and try and stick to it, especially if you are looking to build your readership. People start to expect you to keep to a schedule and when they don’t find you after a period of time; they will stop looking.

Some bloggers have elaborate production schedules, some just jot notes on a note pad. Each blogger is different and you don’t have to know where are going to when you start. That’s the good thing about blogging; you get to evolve over time to become what you want to be. If you try something and it doesn’t feel right, try something else.

Take time to figure out what, at least initially, think you want your blog to be and make goals based on that. Stick to your goals- even if you do modify them a bit here and there.

Blog Appearance
With hosted blogs like those you can find at Blogger and at WordPress, you can change themes frequently. Has yours become stale and no longer reflects your style? Has your blog become too cluttered and it is not easy for a new visitor to find information? It may be time to look at different themes that are available and update the appearance of your blog. Many blog platforms allow you to change the graphics and layouts to make your blog fresh and new. As you become more proficient in the blogging world, you will find that you can even create your own blog buttons and other graphics by using a little html code. Getting started is half the battle; the rest you will learn as you go. There are so many resources out there for new bloggers and for those bloggers who are looking for a fresh new start.
