Best Blogging Site to Use
When starting out blogging many people do not want to set up their own domain names and hosting as that can get very expensive if you do not already have an audience that has already been captured. Other drawbacks of using your own hosting to first start your own blog including the need for technical skill to set up the server and the skill to make sure your WordPress is properly set up. Then you have to worry about securing both your WordPress setup and your server as well. To be honest the whole thing can be just a huge complicated mess. That’s why many people when they first start out decide to use some of the free blogging websites out there to get themselves off the ground before moving to their own web hosting.
Using Blogger To Blog
Blogger started out as a standalone company before being purchased by Google. Many people believe that Blogger is the best blogging platform just because Google typically has the best products; in this case they are very wrong. While blogger does have several distinct advantages over the competitors including allowing you to run advertising in my opinion blogger would be the wrong choice for a new blogger just starting out. The reasons are clear.
- You will likely want to move to the WordPress blogging platform in the future and importing from Blogger’s website into WordPress is difficult at best.
- The ability to make a good looking website with blogger is very difficult due to their limited number of themes and widgets. It does not offer an ability to get on a front page if you have a large number of viewers.
Xanga, LiveJournal, Etc
Xanga in my opinion just sucks for professional blogging as does Live Journal. It offers a limited number of options, no ability to place advertising, no analytics capabilities, and frankly very, very poor service. I would not recommend ever using Xanga or LiveJournal to ever blog on a website.
WordPress Is Where It’s At
For those hoping to start up a professional blogging platform WordPress is clearly where it’s at. While you are not allowed to run AdSense you can grow a good following using the WordPress.com network, you also have the ability to run both Google Analytics and WordPress’ built in Analytical software. Other big things include the easy ability to export your blog to another website. When I first started blogging wordpress.com was the site I used and I have not changed my mind about using the wordpress.com site ever since then.
But Choose What Is Best For You
I’m a WordPress blogging platform fan, but ultimately you need to choose the blogging platform option that is best for you and your blog. I would spend some time talking to fellow bloggers as well as doing some good in depth research before you decide on your blogging engine as while it is possible to choose once you set it up, it is difficult and very time consuming.

Yes I too had several confusions in choosing what Blog domain to choose. I am so comfortable with word-press in the beginning but there are so many restrictions now. Even I used the LiveJournal but blocked for some unknown reasons. From the beginning, I am going well with the Blogger. I am getting regular traffic from Blogger now.
Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability of readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs
